Week 1 - Mighty Mimics
Dive into the fascinating world of animal trickery, where survival depends on looking like someone—or something—else. Teens will explore different types of mimicry, from harmless hover flies that resemble stinging bees to predators that use deception to catch prey, and discover how adaptation turns imitation into a powerful survival strategy.
Week 2 - Species Spotlight
Explore the animals that play major roles in their ecosystems, from powerful umbrella species that protect entire habitats to keystone species that keep food webs in balance. Teens will discover how indicator, sentinel, and flagship species help scientists understand environmental health.
Week 3 - Desert Days
Investigate the clever ways animals avoid becoming lunch, from tough shells and venom to camouflage, warning colors, and dramatic scare tactics. Teens will investigate physical, chemical, and behavioral defenses.
